Rim Fire 2

Aug 26

The plumes are 40,000 feet high.. The fire has split into 3 major blazes..we were evacuated from crane flat this morning..

Bridal veil camp ground in about. 7400 ft higher in elevation than crane flat which is at 6200 (check that) ft  the trees are lodge poll pine and the air way cooler. At night you can see your breath.  It got down to 36… Degrees.

Bridal veil is beautiful with most sights bordering a meadow. I was amazed to see deer just meandering through the camp about dinner time.  Probably  lots more bears up here in the high country although  one thing, most of the berries grow in the valley.  We all know how bears love berries.

It is the end of summer and the bears must eat about 30,000 calories a day to prepare for their long winters sleep.

This Rim fire will keep killing long after the flames are gone as many animals will not get enough to eat before winter hits.

It’s about 6:30 am on the 27 th it is really cold and I can see my breath in the air. I am snugly and warm in my tent under my down blankets and north face coat. I am waiting for the sun to come up a bit more and warm the air, that usually happens between 7 and 8 am.

It is a longer drive into the valley , but I will be going to swim in the Merced and get ice and just sit in the splendor of my beloved Yosemite   I want to stay till the fire is out but I know I must begin my journey home soon.  I am praying all day under my breath and sending love and support to the trees and all the creatures of this amazing place.  I know that must sound a bit crazy  to some but every inch of this earth is alive, every blade of grass breathes, every drop of water gives life in. Some way.
Every step I take in Yosemite is walking in a sacred temple..
